Porsche have resumed their design and manufacturing operations of new car models and have big plans for the forthcoming year. At one stage, the Porsche 911 GT3 was supposed to have its big reveal at the postponed 2021 Geneva Motor Show. However, now there’s planned to be a Q1 2021 launch and news about the new Porsche race car that everyone’s been dying to see.
The former GT3 is already a pretty impressive car, featuring a 4.0-litre flat-6 that is capable of delivering 339 pound-feet of torque and 500 horsepower. Not only that, but it can also speed up to a 9,000-rpm redline.
Many car enthusiasts are eager to see how Porsche will outdo itself with its latest new model. Everyone has high hopes that the 2021 Porsche 911 GT3 will boast performance that will exceed the previous model.
The Porsche 911 GT3 is expected to be much faster, lighter, and more powerful than ever before. Most of the changes to the new model were designed to cut down on its weight, as this offers a firmer suspension and improves the car’s overall aerodynamic efficiency.
A few secret videos and photos of the model were taken during its drive test around the Nürburgring Grand Prix Circuit. Although the details of the car were mostly hidden by camouflage, a new rear aero was clearly visible in the photos.
It has a swan-neck rear wing that adopts a top-mounting design, which is significantly different from a conventional rear wing with the posts mounted to the underside. It’s yet to be confirmed whether this is a standard feature on the GT3 model, or if it’s simply a part of a package of optional extras.
This rear wing is not just for show – it contributes to the car’s speed too. The swan-neck rear wing was first used when rules and regulations in car racing limited the sizes of the rear aero. Compared to a larger rear wing, the swan-neck regains 50 per cent of lost downforce, even though it’s smaller in width and chord.
The vehicle will have a naturally aspirated engine, which debunks previous rumours of the new model switching to turbocharged power for enhanced performance on the track. What’s more, both a manual and a PDK twin-clutch transmission will be developed at the same time.
The car’s sole transmission is also expected to be an 8-speed dual-clutch unit, but knowing that many Porsche aficionados may not be happy with this, the manufacturer might eventually consider a manual gearbox as an option.
Everyone is looking forward to the release of the new Porsche 911 GT3, but it’s still critical to stress that cars as demanding as these will need high-quality batteries sold at the best car battery price.
